A humble young man defined by President Obama as an “Inspiration to all” due to his heroic actions on the 9th January 2015 when he hid innocent hostages from a horrific terrorist siege at a Jewish shop in Paris.
Lassana Bathily has since been awarded two separate Medals of Honour by the Republic of France and the CRIF (Representative Counsel of Jewish Institutions) during their annual dinner on the 23rd February 2015 attended by President Francois Hollande. Lassana was awarded French Nationality during a ceremony officiated by the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls and the Minister of Interior Bernard Cazeneuve. He travelled to the United States to receive a Prestigious Medal of Honour for his Act of Bravery by the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, the 24th March 2015.
Mr. Bathily is committed to promoting a message of peace and tolerance irrespective of race, colour and creed – values he holds near and dear to his heart and is also very passionate about initiating projects that promote access to education and health care in Africa. He recently tragically lost his younger brother who died because he didn’t have access to medical care at his native village in Mali. The present association will be his tool to carry out its projects.
